Carla Jackson became the Cobb County Tax Commissioner in January 2014. She is accountable for the annual accurate collection and disbursement of over $1.4 billion of property and motor vehicle taxes.

 

Carla joined the Tax Commissioner’s office in 2003 as the Business Services Manager and was appointed Chief Deputy in 2012. She was appointed Tax Commissioner in 2014 and re-elected in 2016 and 2020. Carla began her professional career as an Auditor at Broniec and Associates audit firm. She then worked as an Accountant, Accounting Coordinator, and Financial Systems Analyst at The Home Depot before joining Turner Broadcasting System as a Financial Systems Analyst. Prior to joining the Tax Commissioner’s team, she was a successful business technology consultant. 

 

Carla earned bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and Business Management from North Carolina State University. She holds a certificate in Information Technology Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and several leadership certifications, including the Executive Leadership Institute from the University of Georgia. Additionally, she is a licensed CPA. 

 

Carla is an active board member of several professional, business, and nonprofit organizations. She is the Immediate Past Chair of the Tax Commissioner’s Technology Development Council (TCTech) and the Immediate Past District 19 Leader of the Georgia Association of Tax Officials (GATO). Carla chaired the Cobb Chamber of Commerce Cobb Executive Women (CEW) Steering Committee and Cobb Youth Leadership (CYL). Currently, she serves on the Georgia Department of Revenue’s Motor Vehicle Advisory Committee and is Chair of the Cobb Chamber’s Honorary Commanders Alumni Association. Carla also serves on the boards of directors for The Extension and LiveSafe Resources nonprofit organizations. She is a proud life member of the Cobb NAACP and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
