An Experienced Leader
Carla Jackson has the experience and believes in protecting the people and tax dollars of Cobb County. She has been successfully serving as the Tax Commissioner since 2014. Running the Tax Commissioner's Office is no easy feat. Carla is responsible for every phase of collecting and disbursing all ad valorem property taxes, titling and registering over motor vehicles, administering homestead exemptions and levying on property for delinquent taxes.
She oversees 5 service locations and a staff of over 100 employees collecting and disbursing over $1 billion and processing over 750,000 motor vehicle registrations.
Carla began her career with the Tax Commissioner's Office in 2003 as Property Tax Manager. After nearly a decade of historical success in her role, Carla was appointed Chief Deputy in 2012. As the Chief Deputy, she oversaw the policies and operations of the Tax Commissioner’s Office in collecting and disbursing ad valorem property taxes; as well as titling and registering motor vehicles.
Prior to joining the Tax Commissioner’s staff, Carla was a technology consultant gaining corporate management team experience from Turner Broadcasting System and The Home Depot. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Accounting and Business Management from North Carolina State University in 1984. Carla obtained her CPA license from the State of Georgia in 1996 and her certificate in Information Technology Management from Georgia Tech in 1998.
In 2014, Carla became the Cobb County Tax Commissioner where she pledged to continue the Office's legacy of excellence in customer service. She put her experience to work as Tax Commissioner by streamlining processes and reducing expenses in order to protect taxpayer dollars while supporting the professional growth and development of her committed team members. She has worked to reorganize the department to reduce costs and improve service. She and her team have used technology to create an easier online billing and payment system. In May of this year, her team was instrumental in ensuring Cobb county was prepared for the launch of a new statewide motor vehicle system, Georgia DRIVES.
Needless to say, Carla has the experience that's needed and matters to continue serving the people of Cobb County. Her commitment and promise to continue serving with respect, professionalism and dignity are what makes Carla the right choice for Tax Commissioner.
Carla is a devoted wife and mother. She and her husband, Eddie Jackson, have been residents of Cobb County since 1986. This year they will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary.
